CHURCH REQUIREMENTS

1.- You must attend and approved Pre-Cana Program. You can go on to DRVC.ORG under Office of Worship to find a date that is convenient for you. If you choose   to attend Pre Cana here at St. John of God, you will be given the book, A Decision to love, to begin reading. Pre-Cana here at SJOG entails taking Pre Cana on a Saturday morning from 9AM to 1PM. One of the coordinator couples will be in touch with you.

2.- Catholics not baptized at Saint John of God Parish must obtain a new copy of their Baptism Certificate from the Church of Baptism.

3.- Catholics who are not members of Saint John of God Parish must obtain a Letter of Freedom from their own parish indicating that the Banns will be published.

4.- Non-Catholic Christians must provide a date and Church of Baptism.

5.- Other documents may be required as directed by the Staff Member who is working with you.

6.- The Church Offering for your wedding is $700.00 The offering is to be made three weeks before the wedding date. Checks are made parable to St. John of God Church.

7.- The Church schedules your wedding time allowing for some flexibility. However, if the wedding starts late, some parts (such as, extra music, readings) will be eliminated to accommodate other scheduled events. This is necessary especially on Saturdays so that confession begin at 4PM. This mean all members of the wedding party, photographers and guests are out of the church by 4PM.

MUSIC AT YOUR WEDDING

Music is an important part of your wedding celebration. You do not need to make any arrangements. The parish will notify our Music Director, Guillermo Feliz. Any request should be in accordance with the liturgical celebration. For further clarifications regarding the liturgical music, you can contact Guillermo at 631-877-3345.

1. Out of respect for the dignity of the liturgy no non-liturgical music will be permitted at your wedding. This includes all popular music, theatrical songs, etc...

2. St. John of God musicians and cantors will provide the music at your wedding.

CHURCH REGULATIONS

1.- Pictures: Photographers may not enter the Sanctuary and must speak with the celebrant upon arrival at the Church.

2.- Video Tape: Videotaping may be done ONLY from a stationary position and with available light.

3.- No Runners are allowed for safety.

4.- No rice, confetti or rose petals may be thrown as the couple leaves the church/chapel.

PLANNING YOUR WEDDING CEREMONY

READIGN FOR MASS

You must choose the readings for your wedding and ask a member of your family or friend to read it. The selections are contained in the book. Together For Life. You should consult with the priest who is working with you.

THE REHEARSAL

The priest will schedule a rehearsal for you. Please be prompt. All individuals who are going to participate in the wedding should be present. You should bring the following to rehearsal:

CIVIL REQUIREMENTS

The State of New York requires that you obtain a New York State Marriage License. You may do this by appearing together in person at any Town or City Hall in New York State not less than 24 hours nor more than 60 days before your wedding. You should obtain the license 2 to 3 weeks before the wedding date and being it to lthe parish office. It will be signed by your witnesses at the rehearsal.

REQUISITOS DE LA IGLESIA

1. Tienen que asistir a un curso de Pre Cana. Nuestra parroquia tiene parejas preparadas para dar este programa. Se le llamará para darle la fecha, generalmente es un domingo de 1:00 a 6:00PM

2. Los Católicos que no fueron bautizados en la Iglesia San Juan de Dios tienen que conseguir una copia nueva del Certificado Bautismal.

3. Los Católicos no miembros de la parroquia tienen que obtener una carta de su propia parroquia que indica que las amonestaciones han sido publicadas y que la persona está libre para casarse en la Iglesia Católica.

4. Cristianos no Católicos tienen que proveer la fecha y la Iglesia de su Bautismo

5. Tienen que proveer el Certificado de Nacimiento y otros documentos si son necesarios tres semanas antes de la boda.

6. La ofrenda a la Iglesia es un regalo de Acción de Gracias para la vida nueva que van a empezar juntos. La ofrenda normal de la Iglesia de San Juan de Dios es $700.00. El pago para la música esta incluído. Tienen que entregar la ofrenda tres semanas antes de la boda.

7. La hora de su boda está puesta en el libro junto con otras actividades que puedan tener lugar el mismo día. Si la celebración comienza tarde, vamos a eliminar partes de la celebración. De todos modos, especialmente los sábados, todos los miembros del grupo de boda, novios, huéspedes, fotógrafo, etc. tienen que estar fuera de la Iglesia a las 4:00PM.

LA MUSICA EN LA CEREMONIA

La música es parte de la celebración. Usted no necesita hacer ningun arreglo ya que nosotros mismos le notificaremos a nuestro Director de Música, el Señor Guillermo Felix. En caso de que tenga un requerimiento, debe ser de acurdo a las normas litúrgicas. De tener una pregunta sobre la música favor de contactar a Guillermo Felix al 631-877-3345.

1. Para mantener la reverencia y la dignidad de la celebración litúrgica, no se permite ninguna canción secular en la celebración.

2. Los músicos y cantores de la Iglesia San Juan de Dios son los encargados de cantar en las bodas.

NORMAS DE LA IGLESIA

1. Fotos: El fotógrafo no puede entrar en el Santuario y debe hablar con  el celebrante cuando llegue a la Iglesia.

2. Videos: Se permite el uso de cámaras de video. Sin embargo, la cámara tiene que usar la luz disponible y de una sola posición. No puede entrar en el Santuario.

3. El paje con los anillos debe tener la edad de andar por su propia cuenta. Para evitar accidentes, no se permite llevar los anillos de verdad.

4. No alfombra móvil por seguridad y evitar accidentes.

5. No puede tirar arroz, flores, pétalos ni otra cosa a los novios cuando salen de la Iglesia/Capilla.

PLANEAR LA CEREMONIA DE MATRIMONIO

LECTURAS PARA LA MISA

hay que escoger las lecturas para su boda. El libro Juntos para toda la vida tiene las lecturas y deberá pedirle a un miembro de su familia o amigo que la lean. El sacerdote le entregará el libro dónde se encuentran las lecturas.

EL ENSAYO

El padre, le dará la fecha y día del ensayo. Favor llegar puntualmente. Debe traer la hoja de selección de las lecturas, en esa forma, sólo debe escoger las lecturas.

REQUISITOS CIVILES

El Estado de Nueva York requiere que ustedes obtengan una Licencia de Matrimonio del Estado de NY. Puede hacer esto yendo juntos a cualquier oficina civil (Town Hall o City Hall) en el Estado de NY, no menos de 24 horas ni más de 60 días antes de la boda.
